Olivier Biérin is a Walloon parliamentarian from the ECOLO party in Belgium. He qualified the floods of July 2021 in Liège and surrounding cities as “unprecedented”.

He told us in our interview that there are strategies at the provincial level and a commission has been created at the regional level - to analyse the causes and management of the floods. A Masterplan involving municipalities, experts, and the civil society is foreseen at the regional level to better prepare for disasters.
